Guests turned out to Lulu’s on the Avenue (900 N. Michigan) Aug. 27 for the Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival’s Napier Jewelry Book event and perused vintage costume jewelry pieces including pieces from Lulu’s owner Laurie Davis’ private collection. Author Melinda Lewis was in attendance for a meet and greet for her new book, The Napier Co.: Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry.
Splash columnist Jenny McCarthy wooed hundreds of well-heeled partygoers to St. Charles Aug. 24 for a “Dancing with the Stars”-themed evening benefiting her son’s school, Bridges Montessori Academy. Guests included Jenny’s new love Donnie Wahlberg, [past “DWTS” winners] Kelly Monaco and Drew Lachey, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and his wife Kristin Cavallari, and Blackhawks star Patrick Sharp.
The Greater North Michigan Avenue Association kicked off 12 days of the Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival Aug. 22 with some serious star power. Guest host and Emmy-nominated “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks walked the red carpet at Pioneer Court (401 N. Michigan) clad in Stella McCartney, Alice + Olivia, Jimmy Choo and local jewelry lines Dana Rebecca Designs and Lana Jewelry.
To help kick off the Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival, our street style team took to Michigan Avenue to capture fashionable shoppers. We checked in at Pioneer Court where people dropped by for hair styling and hand massages by Michael Anthony salon and enjoyed beauty samples by Hada Labo Tokyo. Sweet treats were provided by Magnolia Bakery.
I have no idea what was said to make Christina Hendricks and I laugh in this photo — my brain shut off the entire time I was next to her (approximately 1 minute and 45 seconds, but who’s counting?). Needless to say, I’m a huge “Mad Men” fan, so meeting Joan Harris at last night’s Magnificent Mile Shopping Fest Kickoff was surreal. And yes, she really is that gorgeous in person. Flawless skin, perfect hair — and completely warm and engaging.
Sporting her signature bold-framed glasses and surrounded by 400 of her most devoted supporters, BMO Harris Bank executive Justine Fedak was hard to miss Aug. 19 at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Greater Illinois Chapter’s Women on the Move luncheon, held at the Ritz Carlton Chicago (160 E. Pearson).
It was a packed house at the River East Art Center (435 E. Illinois) Aug. 15, as 700 guests gathered to celebrate Step Up Women’s Network’s third annual Shine & Dine. Co-chairs Christina Manuel and Marcy Twete joined guests like ABC’s “Betrayal” star Chris Johnson to sample dishes from local restaurants Carnivale, RL and Quay.
