More than 400 Chicagoans got their culture fix Sept. 26 at the launch of Flats Studio Chicago Artists Month, a series of pop-up galleries in Uptown. Attendees got a sneak peek at Chicago Artists Month’s inaugural exhibition — “The American Dream: (W)holy Grail,” curated by Tricia Van Eck — while sipping cocktails, noshing on bites from J&L Catering and rocking out to tunes from DJ/vocalist Carla.
It was a star-studded evening at Vertigo Sky Lounge (2 W. Erie) Sept. 23, when the stars of “Betrayal,” WLS-Channel 7’s dramatic new series, joined more than 200 guests to celebrate the show’s debut. Actors James Cromwell, Chris J. Johnson, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Henry Thomas, Stuart Townsend and Hannah Ware joined “Windy City Live” co-hosts Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini to mingle with guests, snack on sushi and mini burgers and enjoy the lounge’s fire pit and city views.
It was television’s big night Sept. 22, and an intimate group of 30 influencers joined Splash and Glade at Public Chicago (1301 N. State) for a private awards viewing party. Event planner Debi Lilly filled the room with flowers, and attendees, including model Jaslene Gonzalez, The Chicago Life Blog’s Amelia Eaton and Luxury Garage Sale’s Lindsay Segal and Sarah Saddemi, snacked on sweets by Magnolia Bakery and sipped Prosecco while cheering on their favorite stars.
Exelon CEO Chris Crane, BMO Harris Bank CEO Mark Furlong and Chicago Board Options Exchange CEO Edward Tilly played host to more than 400 guests at the Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe) for the annual Working in the Schools Back to School Luncheon Sept. 19.
Splash celebrated the Emmy Awards in style, teaming up with Glade for an intimate viewing party Sept. 22 at Public Hotel (1301 N. State). During the show, Glade debuted a TV spot inspired by the best feelings we experience that are triggered by scent. To compliment the new campaign, guests tweeted with the hashtag #bestfeelings during memorable Emmy moments and earned themselves prizes like a year of free flowers and a $500 gift certificate to the Public Hotel. While in town for her Splash cover shoot, Chicago native and “The Real Housewives of Miami” star Joanna Krupa joined 300 guests at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue (737 N. Michigan) for the unveiling of the luxury retailer’s new Shoe Salon on Two.
More than 400 guests celebrated the arts at Navy Pier’s Grand Ballroom (600 E. Grand) Sept. 6 for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s 12th annual gala. An art show and sale kicked off the evening, showcasing works by sketch artist Rosemary Fanti, glass artist James Wilbat and photographs taken by Catholic Charities program members.
Nightwood chef Jason Vincent cooked up a storm Sept. 16 at City Winery (1200 W. Randolph) for the season premiere of “The Dinner Party,” a monthly meal hosted by Elysabeth Alfano that brings together a variety of Chicagoans for dinner and lively conversation (broadcast live on Chicagosplash.com).
