Animal lovers turned out with their pets in tow for PAWS Chicago’s eighth annual Animal Magnetism event Feb. 28. Dozens of PAWS dogs and cats were on hand at Galleria Marchetti (825 W. Erie), ready to be adopted by one of the evening’s 350 guests, including emcees WKSC-FM’s Brotha’ Fred and “Kitchen Crashers” star Alison Victoria. Eventgoers bid on live and silent auctions items and visited a doggie buffet stocked with Swirlz “pupcakes.” Gov. Pat Quinn was awarded for his leadership in animal welfare through advocacy and legislative reform during an award presentation, and later, animal communicator Alicia Halloran gave readings to the night’s four-legged guests, while others sat for caricature portraits. More than $130,000 was raised to help save the lives of homeless animals in Chicago.
The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event.
