Who was your childhood crush?

Posted by Jenny McCarthy on 15 Jan 2013

Oh, the sweet memories of my first crush. He was the perfect man in my eyes. He was sweet, he had an awesome house and he even had a trolley that talked to him. Can you guess? Yes, my first crush was Mister Rogers. I was 6, so give me some slack. Looking back at those memories made me wonder why we have crushes on certain people. What is it about that person that makes you feel the way you do? Mister Rogers calmed me. He made me feel safe. He liked to use his imagination and I envied his cardigan sweater collection. Knowing Mister Rogers was my first crush made me realize that I had good taste initially. I wish I had a chance to meet him before he passed, to tell him thank you for the great childhood lessons he taught me. I obviously was attracted to the quality of the soul and not the slicked-back hair/boy wonder that most girls were into. As I grew up in the late ’70s and ’80s my taste (of course) changed to even more bizarre choices. I was in love with Ponch from “CHiPs.” I wanted him to come over on his motorcycle…

As I grew up in the late ’70s and ’80s my taste (of course) changed to even more bizarre choices. I was in love with Ponch from “CHiPs.” I wanted him to come over on his motorcycle so badly and let me try on his glasses. I then moved to one of the doctors on “St. Elsewhere.” I know I’m aging myself but do you remember that show? He was the shorter brunette guy that made me want to find that hospital and pretend I was sick. Then in high school I saw the first episode of “21 Jump Street” and I lost it. Johnny Depp was it. My thoughts by this age were completely lustful and all I wanted to do was dry-hump him into my twenties.

Think back to your childhood. Who did you have a crush on and why do you think that particular person? Can’t wait to hear your answers!

P.S. I don’t count in this poll!
