Addicted to your DING!

Posted by Jenny McCarthy on 10 Jan 2013

Do you guys remember the post I wrote last week about cell phones? The one where we all chose to give up our Starbucks coffee in order to keep our phone addiction alive and well? Well, it got me thinking about that love/hate relationship we all have with the alert sounds our phones make when we receive some form of communication. You know, the DING! mixed with a vibration noise that grabs your attention faster than a crying baby, but haunts you as you’re trying to sleep. Who knew I could love a vibration from my phone as much as…..? Nevermind. I don’t know about you, but somedays that damn DING! of my email sounds like what I imagine to be Satan’s doorbell, and I wonder why I allow myself to be so reachable. But I do actually know why. So, I propose this challenge to you: The next time your phone DINGS! with the alert of either a text or an email, don’t grab your phone at light speed to see what was sent. Give it five full minutes before you…

So, I propose this challenge to you: The next time your phone DINGS! with the alert of either a text or an email, don’t grab your phone at light speed to see what was sent. Give it five full minutes before you check. If you’re feeling extra feisty, wait 10 minutes.

Once you complete this challenge, come back here and tell me how it went. You all can be my guinea pigs…
