VIPink Fundraiser

Posted by Splash Staff on 02 Nov 2012

Bright Pink’s fundraiser at Saks Fifth Avenue was just one stop on a national tour On Oct. 19, Bright Pink founder and CEO Lindsay Avner got dressed for work — which for her means donning one of her 44 pink party dresses — to host the annual VIPink at Saks Fifth Avenue (700 N. Michigan). A record-setting 500 guests turned out for the Chicago event (just one stop on an eight-city tour) to support the Chicago-based charity’s mission to educate and provide early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. “The funds we’re raising are going to help propel our programs across the country,” says Avner. “We’re ensuring that young women in Minneapolis or the girl in South Dakota that doesn’t know where to turn has a place to go.” Chaired by publicist Kathleen Henson, the VIPink experience included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a runway show of fall and winter fashions. The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event. The Sun-Times Foundation and the Chicago Community Trust will match donations to Bright Pink, up to a total of $5,000, now through January 1, 2013.
